I can show you a few setups about 2 – 2-1/2 hours southwest of Charlotte in
the upstate of SC (one or 2 in Anderson, SC and mine is in just outside of
Seneca, SC if you want to check it out on the map.) I grind a little during
my syrup cooking and as well a few times a year as I need grits/meal for
personal use. The mill in Anderson is a water wheel driven Meadows 24”, but
they have a 48” horizontal that they use on special occasions. They usually
grind on Wednesday and Saturday afternoon.

Another hour west in Clayton, Ga. Is Barker’s Creek mill, Woody here on the
list grinds there. I’m sure he will put his info on here. There is also
another waterwheel driven Meadows at Hagood Mill in Pickens SC, which is
within ½ hour of The mill in Anderson.

Subject: [Gristmillers] Anyone in the Charlotte, NC area?

Hello,

I’ll be visiting the Charlotte area off and on for the rest of this year due
to my day job. I am new to grist milling, and would like to see a setup or
two. Is there anyone within driving distance of Charlotte?

Two weeks ago, I drove to Meadows Mills and saw 3 refurbished mills that
they have for sale. At that time, I thought I had a deal on a project mill,
but that fell through. I’m looking for a small starter setup that I can
load onto a trailer to grind at museum festivals while my sugarcane syrup is
cooking. I am in the Houma/New Orleans, LA area.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Tracy Baudoin
